Call for abstracts

The Nordic Operating Room Nurses Association (NORNA) invites perioperative nurses from the Nordic countries to submit
abstracts to be considered for presentation at the 3rd NORNA Congress in Reykjavík, Iceland, May 25th – 27th, 2011.
Abstracts from colleagues from countries outside NORNA are also welcome.

The theme of the congress is Hygiene. The main focus will therefore be on that subject but abstracts in general subject
areas relevant to perioperative nursing are also welcome.
Abstracts can be submitted for oral or poster presentations. If your abstract is not accepted for oral presentation it
might be accepted as a poster presentation. Please inform us if such changes in presentation type are not acceptable.

Abstract submission Guidelines

Your responsibility is to submit the abstract either by e-mail to the following e-mail address: thorhalla@hive.is or send it by mail on a CD to the following address to be received before October 15th 2010.

The Scientific Committee will have a selection meeting in the end of October 2010. Applicants will be informed of the outcome of their submission in the middle of November. Please note that all accepted abstracts will be printed in the proceedings book as a full text, exactly as they are submitted.
Further information and guidelines for poster format will be given in an acceptance letter.

Abstracts should be written in English. All presentations will be in English.
The length of the abstract should not exceed 250 words.
The presentation should be a premiere one, preferably made for the NORNA Congress.
Please include name(s) of author(s) - underline presenter(s), institute and short biography and picture of the presenter(s)

All accepted papers will be allowed about 30 minutes for presentation and questions from the delicates.

The abstract should include:

Title of the abstract.
Background, focus of interest, theoretical framework -presenting relevant literature references, conclusions.
Presentations based on research studies should include: Background, research problem(s), goals,
methodology and available results.
Key words should be mentioned either in the beginning or at the end of the text.
All abbreviations must be defined the first time used.
At the end of the abstract please include:
- a. Contact person, address, telephone, and e-mail.
- b. Preferred type of presentation; paper or poster.

Abstracts will only be accepted if they fulfill all of the above criteria
and are received by the stated deadline.
